Chargeback Manager

Role Overview: The Chargeback Manager will be a key member of our Risk & Compliance team, responsible for developing, implementing, and directly managing strategies to minimize financial losses due to card fraud and efficiently handling all aspects of transaction disputes and chargebacks. This role requires a deep understanding of the Payment Card Ecosystems, Fraud, Scheme & Regulatory requirements, and data-driven risk management. Key Responsibilities: Be directly responsible for the end-to-end dispute and chargeback lifecycle process. Ensure timely and accurate processing of all dispute claims, adhering to card scheme rules and regulatory timelines. Develop and implement strategies to optimize chargeback win rates and minimize financial exposure. Help develop, implement, and continuously refine card fraud prevention strategies in cooperation with other Payman teams to mitigate various fraud typologies. Contribute to management and optimization of fraud detection systems and tools, including real-time monitoring and alert management. Collaborate with the other teams to integrate fraud prevention measures into new and existing card features. Conduct regular analysis of fraud trends to proactively adjust risk rules and detection parameters. Provide regular, insightful reports to senior management on fraud losses, chargeback rates, dispute trends, prevention effectiveness and analyze root causes of fraud and disputes, identifying systemic vulnerabilities and recommending corrective actions. Main Requirements: 4+ years of experience in chargeback management or risk operations within the payment card industry. In-depth knowledge of Card scheme’s products, chargeback rules, and reason codes. Good understanding of EMV technology, tokenization, 3D Secure (3DS), and Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) principles. Proven experience in managing and optimizing fraud detection systems and rule engines. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable strategies.
